Member Appreciation Potluck Picnic

Save the date!

PEPA will be hosting a Potluck Picnic for our members on Saturday, May 31, beginning at 8AM at Skyline, 5050 Yvette. Non-members are welcome to join or pay a $10 guest fee for the event. If the nets have not yet been repaired we will bring portables. Come play, eat, and make new friends. Show off you favorite dish by signing-up here

or email the club at pickleballEP@gmail.com, or tell your favorite board member.

Is your PEPA membership active? Memberships expire on December 31 of each year. We started renewals for 2025 one month prior to expiration, on December 1, 2024 (resulting in a 13 month period), so if you have paid since then you are good to go. If you are not sure please email the club at pickleballEP@gmail.com or ask any board member.

Check out our new Instagram!

A huge shoutout to Ida Chavira, our new Eastside Communications Chairperson AND the one who started a new Instagram account for the club. Have pictures that you want to share? Click here and she will post them.

Galatzan Tag Team Tournament

Galatzan Tag Team Tournament

Great fun was had at the Tag Team competition Omar Jimenez organized at Galatzan. Thirty participants were divided into 5 teams, and those six players were arranged into three duos. The first pair from each team played each other for five minutes, then handed off their score to the second duo, who handed the score off to the third. Thus the final score for the competing teams was a compilation of the efforts of all six team members. It is a fun format, keeping all players engaged as the scores accumulate. Congratulations to Patty Morrow's team

Over at Don Haskins 20 pickleballers competed in an eight-week league plus playoff, all culminating in a celebratory pot luck. Most participants were at the intermediate level. Thank you Jack!

Around Town

When summer comes, gyms that are hosting recreation camps for kids will change or cancel their pickleball hours. We will update the Where to Play tab (there is a notice for Veterans at this time) and post to Facebook and in this newsletter, but check with your gym to avoid surprises.

People ask, "What does Pickleball El Paso do?" In addition to clinics, here is another example. As Vic Kolenc reported for The El Paso Times, Hunt Companies is building an amenity center in its Mission Ridge development in the Eastlake area. The center includes two pickleball courts. Advocacy by Pickleball El Paso contributed to this inclusion.
