Announcements

Congratulations to Jose Luis Herrera (or "J-Lu" as he is known at Serve) and Ivan Molina for winning the money division of the July 4th tournament at Rio Grande Valley Ranch. Sixteen teams competed in an intermediate and an open division.
Galatzan: There will be limited court availability tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 30, due to a beginner's clinic. The gym has has new between-court barriers; thank you Carlos Rodriguez! On another note, Patty Morrow is working with Carlos on getting tinting on the windows at Grandview.

Serve, at 1633 Cimarron Emporium, is offering open play Monday - Friday, from 8AM to 11AM for $7.50, for the entire 3 hour block. The facility boasts four outdoor and five indoor courts. Traffic is sometimes light on weekday mornings so you may want to take your own group. Their regular rental rate is $50 - $55 per hour so this is a good opportunity.
Also at Serve - your Pickleball El Paso Board is working on a member appreciation event at that location. Watch for details.

The Ascarate courts will be closed on Sunday, August 3, as is done every year for the ceremonies to be held at the Walmart memorial, just across the street from the pickleball courts.
Also, there are some issues with the resurfacing at Ascarate. Players are reporting that the ball is skidding. We have notified the County and we will keep you posted.
New Private Facility

El Paso's newest private venue opened about one month ago at El Paso County Club. They did a really nice job on these five dedicated courts. The out-of-bounds is a regulation 10 feet, and the courts were built by the pool, well away from tennis and golf to accommodate the noise. Shade is available on each court and there is a small viewing grandstand.
It is a members only facility.
When Pickleball El Paso formed in 2021 and started advocating for facilities, there were only two places to play on the westside: Galatzan and the YMCA on Snow road. Who remembers that? Â In just the last two years, El Paso's west side grown to four private facilities, two gyms, and two parks with mutli-use lines.
